Who We Are

Seventy Years of Scouting Service

Troop 185 alumni gather for a reunion

Troop 185 has a long history of serving the Dublin Community. Formed in 1942, Troop 185 is chartered to Dublin Community Church, 81 West Bridge Street in Dublin. Over the course of its 70 year history it has produced more than 100 Eagle Scouts.

Scouting for Food

Troop 185 is a medium sized troop of some 45 boys and 15 active adult leaders. While a medium-sized troop, our boys remain a tight knit group. Every scout receives personal attention and is encouraged to advance.  Boy led, Troop 185 actively uses the patrol method.

We meet Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Our troop realizes scouts have other interests - sports, the arts, other clubs. We try very hard to be flexible to each scout's busy schedule.

Adventure

Our key activities are outside - camping, hiking, canoeing, biking.

The troop has key camping and cooking equipment, but Boy Scouts are responsible for personal camping items like tents, sleeping bags (0-degree rating recommended), backpacks (with external frames recommended) and day packs (bookbag size), and mess kits and utensils, as well as other personal items.

Besides camping equipment, the biggest expense involved is buying a Class A uniform.
